The Grandad Jim's Traditional Sweet Shoppe Story !

It all started back in 2012 when Andy , who is the stores founder had an idea for a shop selling not just sweets , but nostalgia and the Leyland shop was born.

The business is named after Andy's very own Grandad Jim , who was his lovely mum Lynne's Dad , Jim.

Fast forward to 2016 and Tony , Andy's dad, partnered with Andy , and the two of them, along with Andy's wife , Kat opened the second of our stores in Chorley. Andy & Kat still run the Chorley store , and Kat runs the social media & online presence as well as being chief gift maker !

In 2019 they expanded the sweetie empire with their third store at Horwich , however after the Covid 19 pandemic hit that area hard , this branch closed in 2022.

In 2021 the Wigan branch was opened, right in the heart of Wigan and of course selling a large range of famous Uncle Joe's mint balls! Tony runs this store , and you'll often see the Grandad Jim's red van parked out front filled with stock !

In 2024 Andy's youngest brother Anton franchised the Leyland store , after working there for years previously, and he now runs this with the help of his partner Danielle. You'll often see their 3 children in store too !

It really is a true family run business , Andy & Kat's children Jack & Fred work in the Chorley store , and Jacob their eldest did previously. The younger children can be seen in store at times too "helping" with the stock !

Andy's lovely mum Lynne is the best Christmas tree decorator you'll ever meet and she puts on the best displays in store every year!

As well as running the Wigan store , Tony had built the stores ( all the woodwork you see was made by himself! ) and is our resident handyman now , despite the fact he should be retired !

We all love what we do and I hope it shows in our work , the gifts we create and the customer service each store offers .

We have a fantastic team of staff in our stores who look forward to meeting you soon ! Wigan store has Kats best friend at the helm most days , Jane who I'm sure many of you now know! , Chorley has the amazing Jasmine who has been with us since the store opened , to name just two !
